After my graduation from the Nautical College (Rotterdam) I sailed as a Deck Officer for Shell, van Ommeren and Nedlloyd.
In 1992 I started on the Dangerous Cargo department of Nedlloyd.
As of the merger of Nedlloyd and P&O to P&O Nedlloyd, I worked as Global Manager Dangerous Cargo.
When Maersk Line integrated PONL, I became their Global Manager Dangerous Cargo.
As GMDC I was, besides managing the team (in Rotterdam and Mumbai), responsible for company policy, liaison with e.g. Grand Alliance, the setup of a central approval team in India and I represented the company in international fora like IMO (DSC), ICS (Chairman DG panel) CDI-MPC as well in several Dutch fora like CTGG and KVNR.
